Web Hosting, Our Web Server
Our websites are hosted by the web hosting provider Hostinger in a data center in Germany. Hostinger provides the technical services necessary for the operation of the web server and the websites. As part of these services, Hostinger processes usage data, meta data, and communication data on our behalf, including data from customers, contact information, content, and contract details. This is done in our legitimate interest in ensuring the reliable operation of the websites in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR in conjunction with Article 28 of the GDPR (Data Processing Agreement).
Cloudflare (Content Delivery Network and Security Service)
This website uses services provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (“Cloudflare”). Cloudflare acts as a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and reverse proxy. All access to this website is routed through Cloudflare’s infrastructure to optimize loading times, ensure the website’s availability, and provide protection against attacks such as DDoS attacks or malicious bot access.
Each time a page is accessed, connection data is transmitted to Cloudflare’s servers. This includes, in particular, the IP address, the page accessed, the browser and operating system used, and the time of access. Cloudflare may also set technically necessary cookies on the user’s device, for example for bot detection (_cf_bm), for verification following a security prompt (cf_clearance), or for load balancing (_cflb). These cookies serve exclusively to ensure the security and technical functionality of the website.
Data processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR (legitimate interest). The legitimate interest lies in ensuring IT security, protecting against attacks, and reliably delivering website content. Since Cloudflare acts as a reverse proxy, data processing inevitably begins with the first page view.
Cloudflare processes data on behalf of the website operator. A Data Processing Addendum has been concluded with Cloudflare. Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which ensures an adequate level of data protection for the transfer of personal data to the United States.
