Please contact your U.S. Senators as soon as possible and urge them to support Sen. Voinovich’s upcoming bill. Suggest that their Legislative Directors get in touch with Lauri Hettinger, who is Sen. Voinovich’s L.D. The office number in Washington is (202) 224-3353.
Please make every effort to meet with him or her in person and stress how much the Delta Queen’s visits mean to your community. And don’t forget by all means to make sure your Senator knows the Delta Queen is a very safe boat, no matter what other Senators or the Coast Guard might tell them. It they’re in doubt, encourage them to talk to Sen. Voinovich or Rep. Steve Chabot about this issue – both can give them all the details about the Delta Queen’s safety.
Notes:
1. This list also includes California and Florida, which send many passengers to the Delta Queen.
2. Senators whose information appears in red type are running for re-election in 2008.
3. To find information for District offices, go to www.senate.gov and click on the pull-down arrow labeled “States.” It will take you to links for both of your Senators.
4. The best way to communicate with your Senator is by phone or fax — or, of course, in person if that’s possible. Do not send postal mail to Washington. It takes several weeks to get through Capitol security.
5. When Congress reconvenes in early September, Ohio Senator George Voinovich will introduce legislation to save the Delta Queen, so you do not need to ask for his support. But I know he and his staff would appreciate a word of thanks for coming to our aid.

Save the Queen.

I urge you to support the Delta Queen Exemption. It costs nothing and in these days of Hundred Billion dollar Bailout bills and makes no sense to not support it.
The boat was safe, run well and on any day – shore was 20 foot away.

With so many historical sites and monuments endangered or already gone, urgent Senatorial action is necessary. If our elected officials could spare a few minutes to this exemption, the Delta Queen could ply our rivers for years to come.

Please save the Delta Queen. We got the opportunity to ride her from Rock Island, Ill. to Prairie DuChein, Wisc. and it was wonderful. will never forget it. It was the honeymoon that we had been unable to take till then.

I know that there a lot of issues that need our attention with the war and the state of the economy. However, I feel that this matter needs out attention too. Please grant the Certificate of Inspection extension to the Delta Queen and save the American icon. It would be a shame for this piece of American History o no longer be on the rivers. I have seen and heard of riverboats along the shorelines of the rivers that were removed from service. These boats fall into disrepair and esentially fall to pieces. It breaks my heart to see these vessels to fall apart and become lost to time. The Delta Queen does not have to suffer this fate. We can save the Delta Queen and she can continue to cruise the American Riverways. She cn continue her service and bring joy to the American people. Please help save the Delta Queen.
