Help us saving the DQ!

Aug 2, 2007

According to a Majestic America Line press release the historic steamboat DELTA QUEEN has been denied a renewal of her exemption from Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations by the US Congress. This means the Steamer Delta Queen will not be allowed to serve as an overnight passenger vessel after the actual exemption from the law expires in November 2008. This most likely will be the end of this historic vessel, a National Historic Landmark, built more than 80 years ago. Steamboats.org together with a community of steamboat enthusiasts has started a campaign to save the Delta Queen and find a way to gain the exemption anyway. This website will be the central point of information about this campaign, giving advice how you can help and collecting information and press coverage about the "Save the Delta Queen Campaign". Come back to this website to check for progress and to find out how to help.
